I am a previous editor for the INSPIRE journal and a current INSPIRE ambassador for Peninsula Dental School at the University of Plymouth.
Previously, I have spoken at the INSPIRE One Health event, where I discussed previous research I have been involved with, investigating bee propolis as a potential mouthwash, and the environmental impacts wide-stream use could have. This was a great opportunity to present my work, and network with other dental, medical and veterinary science students.
The experience was out of my comfort zone, but it makes you think about your research in a different light and take into consideration other factors, such as the environment.
Attending this event also allowed me to write a report about my experience of the event and share my thoughts while hopefully encouraging other students to attend similar events in the future. Contributing a piece to the journal was rewarding, especially after being a peer reviewer and editor in the past, which allowed me to develop a great plethora of skills from both roles.
